It grows in a similar habitat to the black truffle, i.e. next to the roots of Mediterranean forests, but does not require specific conditions like the black truffle in terms of soil composition and humidity, which is why it has a delicate flavour and aroma. This condition also facilitates its cultivation and makes it economically more affordable compared to the black truffle.
Dark on the outside and with a more pronounced pyramidal shape, it is light brown in colour with white streaks when ripe.
